is extremely upset and disappointed with Stratos Jets as the plane had mechanical problems on take off which delayed the trip by 5 hours. It was his wife's birthday and the entire family had a full day of sightseeing arranged which had to be cancelled. The trip was very costly and he feels he is due back some compensation. Customs and immigration procedures must be complied with for all private jet flights. Private jet customers are often not aware of any checks as in most cases these can be completed prior to the flight. At larger airports the private jet terminal will have dedicated customs and immigration staff. At smaller airports it is rare to see Customs and Immigration officials although they will be aware of your flight and can occasionally make special visits to the airport to meet a flight.

All subcontractors that they use have been top-notched. Only critique is I obtained better final pricing of the flight when I received quotes from other charter companies. Seems to be an industry thing about competitive pricing in order to obtain the best price. Yes I would recommend Stratos.

Once again: Joel, Sarah and Sandra delivered a seamless experience as well as the pilots and ground crew. There was 5 feet of snow in Steamboat Springs after a blizzard (Hayden Airport) and we took off perfectly and had a very smooth flight despite weather. The jet was beautiful and the awesome pilots tolerated our golden retriever trying to take over the navigation of the plane and two cats meowing. Stratos arranged for transportation home and the driver was so pleasant. Super happy again and will continue to only use them. Thank you again!
The most economical option is chartering, which doesn't require any cash upfront (other than a deposit) through companies like Tradewind, Sentient, and Solairus, (which we took home from North Carolina). Of course, there are the old standbys like NetJets and Marquis, who sell fractional ownership (like 1/16th) of a single jet for upwards of $100K. One step down from that, pricewise, is the jet card, where you buy a set amount of hours from a company like Nicholas or Private Jet Services, and can use those hours for different planes. Then there are membership models like WheelsUp, where you pay $17,500 as an initiation fee to fly in their fleet, and then a $8,500 annual dues fee starting the second year. It's like a country club—only you're guaranteed access to a KingAir350i or Citation Excel / XLS instead of a golf course.
Would highly recommend anyone looking for charters to contact Stratos. Their team was second to none in handling our request from first call to post flight. The CEO was even kind enough to phone me to ensure that we had located our crew at the FBO just prior to departure. I have run multiple aircraft in flight departments for many years and can truly say that its hard to find this level of professionalism in the business.
As always, your staff is a pleasure to work with, and are very good with their communication, etc. I (of course) wish we didn't have the snafu with your client cutting the trip short, only to change his mind - costing us an additional 3 hours of flight time (approx. $10,000) - since we cancelled a trip with another operator to accommodate his request to leave early. I think there should have been a consideration for a 2 hour cancellation fee or something there. We understand that this wasn't Stratos Jets' doing - but I believe your client should have been penalized in some way as he was informed we had another trip and he told us to cancel it to accommodate him. This was very disappointing (and financially detrimental) for us, especially as we had lowered the cost of the trip (in addition to removing all minimums) prior to booking. The only way it made sense for us to do that was to fly while sitting transient.
